LBGTQ+ people have specific and unique risks related to Substance Use Disorders. This presentation offers some basic foundational definitions of Substance Use Disorder, and describes workforce opportunities for PAs interested in working in addiction medicine. Data demonstrates that sexual minorities are more likely than sexual majority counterparts to have substance use disorders, and this presentation also presents some of that data, as well as focusing on how PAs can play a role in addressing substance use disorders in their patient populations.
