Objectives:

  • Discuss the impact and legacy of the HIV/AIDS movement on medical access, funding, treatment, and education.

  • Identify similarities and differences in public and federal response to HIV/AIDS and Monkeypox epidemics.

  • Host a robust discussion regarding impact and reframing of stigma surrounding infectious disease in LGBTQ communities.

  • Recognize the historical foundations of medical mistrust that directly affect communities and describe its effect on individual health care behaviors - both overt and insidious.

  • Identify the political and societal tools that impede the progress of persons living with HIV and/or persons who use drugs

  • Discuss provider discomfort with patient sexual history taking and analyze common patient-to-provider communication errors



LBGT PA has been authorized by the American Academy of PAs (AAPA) to award AAPA Category 1 CME credit for activities planned in accordance with AAPA CME Criteria. This activity is designated for 2 AAPA Category 1 CME credits. PAs should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation.
